News and Notes from Fr. Bill: Welcome. Fr.
James (Jim) Pitya, the Visiting Missionary This Weekend!
Fr. James is from the Sudan and comes as the
representative of the Diocesan Missionary Coop. He will
be here for all the Masses. A second collection will be
taken up to support the Catholic Church in the Sudan.
The Sudan has been a war-torn country for 55 years.
There are constant bombings and burning of villages.
Many people of all ages are dying daily from starvation
and curable diseases. In addition to serving the people
with food, shelter, and healing, the Church is trying to
spread the Gospel and teach the faith to both children
and adults. Please be generous!
HELP WANTED! HELP NEEDED! PLEASE, we need volunteers
for Liturgical service. We especially need Altar Severs
and Eucharistic Ministers desperately! PLEASE VOLUNTEER
by calling the office at 989-479-3393. Thank you! Thank
you!
New Office Update We have sent pictures of the
current status of the office to the State for review. In
addition, we have collected specifications for the
material and equipment used in the refurb of the office.
We will begin to finish the work this week or next and,
hopefully, move in soon. If you want to donate to the
remaining work, including the fire door, please write
“Parish Office” on the memo of your check. Thank you
very much!
New Microphones
Because of a government change to wireless microphone
systems, we have replaced the belt back the celebrant
uses as well as the secondary belt pack and hand held
microphone. The equipment still needs some adjustment
for the sound. Thank you for your patience and
understanding.
Stained Glass Window Repair Project (SGWRP)
As I mentioned before, we now have to get two more bids
and diocesan approval for this project. If you want more
information about the need for the window repair, please
ask me and I will more than willing to show you our
concerns. In response to my request last week, we have
received a couple of donations. The Booms family gave a
donation for $3,000 in memory of their mother, Florence
Booms. Thank you for your wonderful generosity to our
parish. If you wish to donate to this project, please
write SGWRP or simply Window Project on the memo line of
your check. Thank you for your ongoing generosity,
especially to preserve our beautiful windows, which some
say are the most beautiful in the diocese.
Thank You to the O’Neils for the Lawn Work in the
back of the Church and School
Denis (“Chugger”) O'Neil, his son, Aaron, and nephew,
Andy, worked very hard this past week to beautify the
grassy area behind the church and school. It looks
great! Steve Conquergood donated the use of his truck to
haul away some old cement from the area and bring in
black dirt. Thank you, “Chugger,” Aaron, Andy, and Steve
for you donation of time and effort to this project! |
